Sunglasses have one purpose: to protect the eyes from the sun. There is a pair, however, that I would wear exclusively at night (80s moody synthesizer).
The glasses in question are like the luminous sneaker of the face. The rectangular frame rests on thick, tapered arms, which contain a lightweight LED system that illuminates the Balenciaga logo. The brand actually launched them at the end of 2019 during their Spring / Summer 2020 show but is relaunching them again now, for our luxurious sci-fi enjoyment.
The logo comes alive in several colors and patterns, all controllable at your fingertips. The light can flash, stay static, or change from one color to another in blue, red, green, purple, yellow and white, depending on what you want. (Don’t forget to charge them with a USB cable.)
As seen in the video above, the LED light shines brightly even in daylight, when the Normans would wear sunglasses. But I’d wear them in the dark of a club, for example, where I’d be a floating Balenciaga logo. Or while being fully sheathed in a black Balenciaga look, Kim Kardashian at the Met Gala. Of course, I couldn’t do anything with the combo of my completely covered face and black sunglasses, but it would look so cool. it would just cost me over $ 1,000.
