Fai Khadra and Oliver Peoples have joined forces on an exclusive collection of sunglasses.
The heritage and creative multidisciplinary eyewear manufacturer offers a five-piece capsule that is both avant-garde and timeless.
“We are delighted to partner with Fai Khadra,” Oliver Peoples CEO Rocco Basilico said in a press release. “Fai will become a leader in the creative design space and brought a clear vision to the collaboration. As a brand, Oliver Peoples has always been defined by vintage-inspired details designed for the modern wearer. The innovative direction and Fai’s creative work aligns perfectly with our aesthetic.
Handmade in Italy, the “Fai sunglass” model was based on a pair of vintage glasses unearthed by Khadra. The piece is presented with a rectangular shape with a unique barbed wire detail embedded in the acetate temples. The glasses are available in five colors: dark mahogany, black, emerald bark, translucent burgundy and gray textured tortoise.
“I approached it more from a technology perspective,” Khadra told Vegas magazine of the collaborative design. “I modeled my face in 3D and started playing on the computer with different shapes and things. We played with all these different shapes and then I went to get more source material. I went to different vintage shops, places that inspire me and where I shop or buy things; different little unique trinket places, and I started compiling a bunch of different frames.
Not only did Khadra take part in the design process, but he also helped direct the capsule’s official campaign alongside photographer Hugo Comte. The sleek black and white images show Khadra rocking the frames with international model Jordan Daniels.
To celebrate the capsule collection, Oliver Peoples and Khadra hosted an intimate launch event in Los Angeles this week. The intimate dinner, which took place on a helipad, featured a star-studded guest list that included names like The Weeknd, Hailey Bieber, Luka Sabbat and Khadra’s good friend Kendall Jenner.
The “Fai” sunglasses are available now on the official Oliver Peoples website.
