You’ve no doubt read your fair share of sunglasses roundups this season. The same goes for caps. But, have you thought about styling a cap with integrated sunglasses? Of course you don’t because they don’t exist…
Come in, Fendi.
In a sort of mutant motorcycle-helmet-meets-CP-Company-jacket movement, Fendi has just dropped one of the strangest accessories of the summer. And that means something.
But in fact, the more we watched and discussed it, the more it makes sense to us. Basically, it’s a great idea. Your attached cap and sunglasses mean one less thing to think about. And, in practice, that’s fine too.
Fendi’s execution is surprisingly good. There’s plenty of room for a cap-sunglasses hybrid to look like a kids’ novelty toy, but Fendi’s restraint with clean color and subtle branding really hit the spot here.
A leather trim completes the navy dome which features an embroidered tonal Fendi logo on the front. The one-piece sunglasses feature an all-over Fendi logo printed against the gray tint.
Even better, the Fendi sunglasses cap is also practical. Thanks to two hinges attached under the brim, the sunglass visor flips up and stores neatly when not in use.
Let’s be honest: if someone had offered us a cap-sunglasses, we would probably have told them that it was not worth it. But then we saw Fendi do it. Well, we’re believers.
